Easter in the Serbski muzej
Almost 1700 persons, tourists and locals used the Easter holidays to visit the Serbski muzej with its exhibitions and the public decorating of eggs. The high point was saturdays programm in the afternoon at 4.00 p.m. In the audience hall full of spectators up to the last seat and beyound, Marta and Hanka Sarodnik from Zeißig played with their mother Anett. Sorbian-wendish pieces on the bagpipes,l the wendish violine and pipes as well as the skillfully performed duett “Komu su sněhowki” [To whom belong the snowdrops?] enchanted the audience.
While pausing from playing music, members of the Sarodnik-family gave explanations about their instruments, sorbian customs and the traditional clothing . The lad‘s/men‘s clothing was displayed by brother Werner Sarodnik and Paul Mautz. A lot of visitors made use of the possibility to chat with the talent-blessed young familiy right after the concert.
Dpmt. of Fine Arts accessible
From last years novembre the departement of fine arts inside of our museum was closed due to a reorganization under new concept. The main reason is, that parts of the currently aquired works had to be incorporated into the permanent exhibition. This happened in connection with the special exhibition “Gesammelte Werke. Neuerwerbungen bildender Kunst.” The extensive project could be realized thanks to the generous support by promotional funds from the federal programme “Investitionen für nationale Kulttureinrichtungen in Ostdeutschlannd” (carried out by the Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst as well as the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung in coop. Kreissparkasse Bautzen; Stiftung für das sorbische Volk.)
We would like to express our profound thankfulness to all sponsors, regarding the purchase of the last five years especially to the Stiftung für das sorbische Volk and Sächsisches Landesstelle für Museumswesen.)
So in the context of Easter – you do not need to search for the artpieces – but you can joifully explore them!
Advice for the decoration of eggs – appointement necessary
In context of the new exhibition “Sonnenrad und Wolfszähne. Verzierte Ostereier aus der Lausitz.” we offer (additional to the common decorating by waxing) a programm about scratching and etching eggs.
This workshops takes place:
Tuesday, March the 29nth from 10.00 am – 12.oo am.
Even though it is a fix date, we would kindly ask you, to announce your participation.
Here is some practical advice: In case you participate at a session about the waxing techniques, please bring some emptied white eggs for your own use. Otherwise, if you want to excercise the etching or scratching techniques, we need you, to have some coloured eggs ready by yourself (emptied or boiled). Furthermore it is recommandable to carry ones own pointed object (engravin knife) to the scratching course. That is needed to scratch the patterns on the coloured egg. Thank you!
