„Gesammelte Werke. Neuerwerbungen bildender Kunst“
[ Collected artwork. New acquisitions of fine art] July the 5th 2015 – January the 31st 2016
The Serbski muzej is in posession of the largest collection of sorabian fine art/ visual art. Solely with an enormous amount of support and by own continous purchase along the recent five years it was possible to increase this very unique feature of our art collection. Hence it is time to present a selection of the those new acqisitions to the wide public.
It shall be emphasized, that one part of the temporary exhibition contains the artwork of six contemporary artist, purchased in 2014, though altogether the works of 25 different artists from various generations will be exhibited.
The new entries of 2014 consist of works from Jan Buck, Uwe Häntsch, Jürgen Matschie, Jutta Mirtschin, Sophie Natuschke as well as Maja Nagel.
In the context of the last five years, beyond the named, works of Ante Trstenjak, Conrad Felixmüller, Priscilla Ann Siebert, Ludivk Kuba and Józef Brandt inter alia could be purchased.
Thus the temporary exhibition „Gesammelte Werke. Neuerwerbungen bildende Kunst“ presents the fruitfull work that usually takes place behind the scenes.
The extensive project could be realized thanks to the generous support by promotional funds from the federal programme „Investitionen für nationale Kultureinrichtungen in Ostdeutschland“.
Altogether, we would like to express our profound thankfulness to all sponsors, regarding the purchase of the last five years especially to the Stiftung für das sorbische Volk and Sächsische Landesstelle für Museumswesen
